End of January Update from Mark Ireland
Hi all,
Hope all the regulars enjoyed the
Tuesday night ride tonight - the wind didn't affect us to much, other
than the first bit of Parton Rd. The C Group got caught up with a dog
running around on the little bridge as you come out of Welcome Bay,
which had brought traffic to a standstill - good work by a couple of
the riders managing to get hold of the animal and drag it clear of the
road. With the sun on the angle it was on, it could easily have been
hit by a car.
The clubs Saturday racing programme
is about to kick into action this weekend, and we plan to have a
weekend race every 2 or 3 weeks. A full calendar, including out of town
events, will be circulated in the next week or so, so you can plan the
rest of your season.
Still plenty happening throughout the
week, of course, with all the regular rides in full swing at the moment:
Tuesday Night - 6.00pm - Training
rides leaving from Mt Hockey Club on Totara St
Wednesday Night Hill Climb - 5.45pm
for a 6.00pm start, Oropi Rd (starting by Golf Club)
Thursday Night Racing - 6.15pm, Te
Tumu Rd / Maketu Rd corner
Saturday morning training ride -
6.30am - This is a serious training ride organised by Steve Came,
leaving from Koop's Cycles (cnr 17th Ave and Cameron Road)
Sunday morning training ride - 7.25am
- leaving from Barkes Corner (Cameron Rd / Pyes Pa Rd roundabout)
And a quick look ahead for the next
week - note there is a club race this Saturday.
