Cycling is the recreational
activity of choice for over 736,000 New Zealanders – more than almost
any other activity - and one of the fastest growing.
Cycling is
controlled by BikeNZ, with
Cycling New Zealand Federation (CNZ) looking after Road and Track
Cycling – and the Tauranga Road Cycling Club Inc. is proud to represent
CNZ/BikeNZ in the Western Bay of Plenty region.
The Tauranga Club
organises many
events every year, catering for all ages and abilities. Whether you
ride just for fun and to keep fit or whether you enjoy the more
competitive challenges of racing, the Club has something to offer
you. Read More

Congratulations to
Daniel Molyneux for winning a Gold medal last weekend in
the Waikato/BOP Time Trial at Te Aroha. Daniel won the Elite Category,
doing the 40km in 55:51. Another Tauranga rider to take Gold was Thomas
Carter, winning the Under 15 category, doing 20km in 35:06. Also
congratulations to Craig Dobson, who successfully qualified as a BikeNZ
National Grade Commissaire, after attending a course in Trentham
recently. (Commissaires are cyclings version of a referee)
1. Notice from
Tauranga City Council - The works in the SH2 / Domain Road area, as
part of the NZTA Eastern Link project, are about to get into full swing
and it recommended that cyclists avoid this area. There will be more
information on this in the City Views section of the newspaper in
coming weeks. This work is likely to continue for the next couple
of years. (Editor's note - as iI drive this intersection twice a day I
fully endorse this. i think the advice is being heeded as I never
see cyclists using it)

We have received a limited
number of Large Race Cut Tauranga Cycling Club Jerseys. They are
available at Koops Cycles for $100 each. The Medium Race Cut ones were
too small as a replacement for the standard medium ones that
ran out. These are about the same size
as the first medium standard cut jerseys but are a better fit. Paul
Rogers is the Club 40km Time Trial Champion for the 4th time in the
last 5 years. Nicklas Ansorge is the U-17 Champion. Results

Jerseys are still available. They cost $100 each. As these
represent our official colours, they must be worn by riders competing
in Centre or National events. The jerseys can be purchased at Koops,
but they are not on display as they are to be worn by Club
members only. Club members riding in fun rides are
encouraged to wear Club jerseys - they are bright and stand out in the
bunch.
