Cycling is the recreational
activity of choice for over 736,000 New Zealanders – more than almost
any other activity - and one of the fastest growing.
Cycling is
controlled by BikeNZ, with
Cycling New Zealand Federation (CNZ) looking after Road and Track
Cycling – and the Tauranga Road Cycling Club Inc. is proud to represent
CNZ/BikeNZ in the Western Bay of Plenty region.
The Tauranga Club
organises many
events every year, catering for all ages and abilities. Whether you
ride just for fun and to keep fit or whether you enjoy the more
competitive challenges of racing, the Club has something to offer
you. Read More

Bay Road and the Five Angels, being Reid Road, Rocky Cutting Road,
Waitoa Road, Kaitemako Road and Ohauiti Road.
We have received a limited
number of Large Race Cut Tauranga Cycling Club Jerseys. They are
available at Koops Cycles for $100 each. The Medium Race Cut ones were
too small as a replacement for the standard medium ones that
ran out. These are about the same size
as the first medium standard cut jerseys but are a better fit.
Posted 02 April
2010 - Some clarification re the new format Sunday ride. The
number and make up of the groups is decided at the Papamoa end of
Welcome Bay Road, according to the number and abilities of the riders
present at that point in the ride. Once this has been
decided, for logistical reasons it cannot be altered to
accommodate riders who choose to join the ride subsequently.
Revised Sunday
Ride 21 Mar 2010 Due to demand for
a more casual group on Sundays, we will try splitting into three groups
at the Papamoa end of Welcome Bay Rd (instead of the two as at
present). This has the added advantage of keeping the bunches a bit
smaller. Ride will commence
as usual at 7.25 from Barkes corner, with everyone regrouping at the
end of Welcome Bay Road. The riders who want to go a bit faster will
head off first. The third bunch will be a "controlled pace" group,
riding at around 30km/h, depending on conditions. All three bunches
will regroup at the Mount Information Centre as usual.
There will
be a $2
charge for all club races (decided 10/03/2010). This does not
apply to Thursday night handicap racing.
Saturday training rides leave at 7.30am from the beginning of
April. Paul
Rogers is the Club 40km Time Trial Champion for the 4th time in the
last 5 years. Nicklas Ansorge is the U-17 Champion. Results

Jerseys are still available. They cost $100 each. As these
represent our official colours, they must be worn by riders competing
in Centre or National events. The jerseys can be purchased at Koops,
but they are not on display as they are to be worn by Club
members only. Club members riding in fun rides are
encouraged to wear Club jerseys - they are bright and stand out in the
bunch.
